When last have you checked up your own family photo album? Here is the confession of a man of God: “When I look thoughtfully at my communiqué board of friends, I know that I should always be ready to shelve or alter my plans to help meet the varied needs of others.

Ouch! My heart is warmed as I see the faces of my friends who have played different roles in my life: comforter, truth-teller, listener, hugger, encourager, constructive criticizer, relationship decoder/investigator, and so forth. What I see show me so many new ways of serving and giving back too to these so many different types of friends I have had in years”.

Indeed, we are blessed when reminded of how good our friends are, but what about being convicted on: What am I doing for my friends? How am I pouring into their lives as they are pouring into mine? Am I a responder or desponder to their lives' emergencies? How far have I allowed God to move me to be part of their worlds?

Our text today challenges you to think, now, of what it is like to reach out henceforth to those you call “my friends.” Don't be surprised to hear God speaking to you today to give financially to someone you don't even know; befriend the "different" or "difficult" person whom no one else likes; or better still, do not take careless words or confusing situations personally, but instead, choose to "cover" those minor offenses with love. Are you ready for that? Although, at some point in your life you've known what it is like to be on the receiving end of your good friend, now it is your turn to reach out to him or her. Be his or her answer. Don't delay. Go.

    1. Lord, I offer my all to You for the good of my friends.
    2. Lord, let the grace to 'befriend', everyone including my 'enemies', for the sake of Your gospel and peace come upon me.
    3. Holy Spirit, give friendship evangelism its rightful place in our churches, in Jesus' name.

    Good morning and happy Sunday.
May His presence go with us this new week and beyond, in Jesus name Amen.
