Rachel was a beautiful and admirable young woman; the daughter of a wealthy farmer and the beloved wife of a patriarch. We admire her beauty, her dutifulness in tending her father's flock and her grace in waiting for fourteen years before she could be married to the love of her life. But for all her loveliness, Rachel was idolatrous at heart. On the night when her journey to the land of Canaan began, she stole her father's idols and sat on them. Have you started your journey to the Promised Land? The last thing you need is an idol in your stuff.

It will slow your progress, cause distractions and even attract God's wrath. In her book, Finding Truth, Nancy Pearcey stated that "An idol is anything we want more than God, anything we rely on more than God, anything we look to for greater fulfillment than God." There are many idols that hinder the advancement of youths. Materialism, entertainment and social media, are modern idols hampering youths today. For progress in life, drop your idols.

Challenge: Idol in the heart is an excess luggage
Prayer: Lord, I give up my idols, cleanse me!
Quote: For progress in life, drop your idols
Bible Reading in one Year: Exodus 20:1-6
