Some acts may appear common and inconsequential before men yet invaluable in the sight of God. While humans applaud those who make high value contributions to the work of God in kind and/or in cash, God evaluates our contributions by our motives

Thus, the widow in today's text was adjudged the greatest giver although her contribution might the smallest in relative value. Everybody can contribute to making God and men happy. Eleanor Roosevelt counsels that, "When you cease to make a contribution, you begin to die." Beyond material contributions to God's work, little acts of kindness that may not cost much might result in salvation of sinners or restoration of backsliders.

Secret prayer and intercession for the lost are considered high-value in the presence of God. This is the wisest means to "lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…" (Matthew 6:20).

Challenge: Sow corruptible seed on earth and reap incorruptible fruit in heaven.

Prayer: Help me, Lord, to labour for that meat which endures unto everlasting life.

Quote: Little acts of kindness…might result in salvation of sinners
